It will still be pretty much superior to any other MMORPG out there graphic wise, with the exception of TERA, which has a worse art style IMO. Towns are just awesome.
Art =/= graphics. If so, WET would've been great.

While I would generally prefer to judge graphics on their own merits, especially in comparison with resource usage, when I had GW2 up on one monitor and GW1 up on the neighboring monitor, I was not impressed at all. I expected TERA-like graphics. I expected better shadow/water/etc. rendering. I expected a 2012 produced game to look like one. But time will tell what the final product will look like. TERA wasn't quite as pretty in beta either.

Much of the rest is a personal matter; my point in the end remains the same. GW2 started to fade in my mind, and the beta nearly killed my interest in it. With that, I've cared a lot less about HoM (though I still enjoy helping out allies/guildies with their HoM).

For me, the lack of click to walk, weird (default) targeting, manual dodge and lack of automatically moving to the target are all huge issues.

Yes, as a melee player, you have to manually move to keep on the target or you're swinging at air, unless I'm missing something...

Also, the dynamic event system is shockingly repetitious... remember how in GW you just sort of took the primary quests and an occasional secondary quest and you landed up more or less the right level as you moved through the game? Yeah, not anymore, not by a long shot. Now you've got to grind "dynamic" (and was there ever a more ironic name?) events to level up in order to be able to progress the story.

After a while, I just couldn't really be bothered doing the same shit again... and again. That's a bad sign in a totally new game.

Oh, and being solo is shit.... Totally shit. You're way outgunned, which means you have to be in an area where there are other people.... and that was stupidly hard to find. So hard, in fact, that I quit trying and logged off. Grouping in early GW1 was mental before heroes, but at least it was possible, since we had outpost for attached missions etc... In GW2, you wander around a vast map hoping to bump into someone so you can hang together... and when I say "wander around...bump into someone", I mean you're on your knees praying because it's the only way it even begins to be remotely playable.

I had hopes for GW2, but the core issues I have with it aren't actually beta problems, they're just flat out problems with the choices that have been made and aren't going to change.

My main character has her GWAMM and her 50/50, so I have no further need to complete anything else really, as far as that goes, however ...

My second account 'main' still has his GWAMM to complete and still has alot of ground to cover (vanquishing, Guardian titles, carto being the main ones). Only problem is finding the motivation to do it (gets very boring on your own, but then have too many RL interruptions that it would be unfair to group up with others).

I may or may not complete the HoM for him, rather I use it as a measure or guide to see where I'm at.

I plan on buying all 20 armours (not for the one character, but across the account) so that means levelling and playing through the game with various other alt's (at least far as they need to go for the armour).

For one of my survivor characters I'd like to see how far she can go without dying (setting a goal of 5 mill xp to start with) and probably go for a 3rd GWAMM - again, providing I can find the motivation and the time ....

So after 7 years I'm still playing through the content of the game, but the motivation to do so is starting to lag. I do intend playing GW2 (had fun with beta, while the game is far from perfect there's enough there for me to want to play it) so will be interesting to see how much time I spend in the new game, or if I lose interest and come back full time to GW1.

Cheers.

Really bad water and reflections/light (and again DX10/DX11 isn't on the client yet, I'm not sure if the max quality textures are all there though).

This is mater of personal taste. Many would use the click to walk, tab targeting (that GW2 also has and you can also bind C to target closest just like in GW) and automatic movement into target to bash GW.

I've never had to do a dynamic event more than once to be at the right levels. Also it is a dynamic event because most events have different stages and the next stage will depend of the result of the previous. Heart Quests (you know the gold hearts) aren't dynamic events - they are just draw points for those that dislike exploring.

And if you actually can't find dynamic events you can just go explore the other races starting areas - additionally XP gains is something that is constantly being tweaked.

Yeah mobs are hard, taking on 2 or more on your own will get you killed really fast if you don't know what you are doing.

Still, for many events you have NPCs around to help out.

And of course I don't know which beta you played because during the GW2 beta it was basically impossible to walk 5 meters without bumping in to someone.

My screen generally looked like this:

That is fair, but that doesn't mean the choices are bad, it just means they aren't for your style (I don't like racing games or flight sims).

Luckily for me I enjoy both GW and GW2 and I much prefer the action combat of GW2 and when I log in GW these days I wish I could fire my skills where I'm facing without targeting first...

That was for the invite only betas.

The pre-purchase BWE and last monday stress test is NDA free.

Which is also interesting - I hope these people that are surprised about GW2 features didn't pre-purchase the game without researching it.

DX10/11 is not in the beta? That may solve the many issues people have with the game.

That and I hope they make the client use more than 1 thread and actually care about the GPU its using.

Additionally there are very weird situation where lower spec PCs actually run the game better.

^Because the game isn't optimized yet obviously it's BETA... everything will be fixed at release. Who cares about water reflections lol... again, beta.

I hope you noticed the sarcasm in my post... or actually the pictures illustrating really enjoyable water, lightning and reflections.

I have 50/50 hom and I still play the game, mainly RA.

I tried making some progress towards Gwamm to and dont have much left to do, but I got bored of farming for consumables so all I play now is RA.

I log on every now and then to think back on what was. I'm 31/50 in my HoM and don't care to do more, though I have a king's ransom in booze, sweets, and party supplies. Soon I'll be hosting a giveaway of these things plus a metric ton of crafting materials. An inventory is needed and welll...I'd need to log on to do it.

Each to their own.

I personally can't be bothered with it yet in saying without HoM this game would be even more of a ghost town than it's current state. As a result I help many of my guildies and friends fill theirs and also PuG every now and then merely because I enjoy the particular mission, goal, etc.

As such I think your kind of shooting yourself in the foot if you outright state it sucks as directly or indirectly it's keeping the game ticking....just.
